JOHN HAWKEN ON TOUR IN JUNE & JULY 2004 WITH STRAWBS!

June and July 2004 marks the 30 year anniversary of the legendary Strawbs line-up that birthed the art-rock classics "Hero & Heroine" and "Ghosts". To mark this anniversay, the line-up of all five members -- Dave Cousins, Dave Lambert, John Hawken, Chas Cronk and Rod Coombes -- have reunited to tour the USA and Canada. The reviews are coming in (see below) and the Strawbs are still wowing audiences 30 years later! John is armed with his Moog Voyager, Mellotron voices (thanks to Mike Pinder of the Moody Blues) and other keyboards and synthesizers to insure that the sound is as authentic as ever!

Show dates and details of the venues can be found at the official Strawbs website at http://www.strawbpage.ndirect.co.uk

HERO & HEROINE GOES GOLD: Shortly before the Acoustic Strawbs reunion jam session (see below), John received a call from Dave Cousins of the Strawbs who informed John that The Strawbs "Hero & Heroine" had gone Gold. See details below.

ACOUSTIC STRAWBS & JOHN HAWKEN JAM AGAIN: Recently, John was invited to attend a concert of the Acoustic Strawbs and play an encore number with his friends during their Acoustic Strawbs tour in late 2003. Thanks to Dick Greener of Strawbsweb and Rick Sarlo (who took these photos), we'd like to give you a look at this great reunion of old friends. See below...

Strawbs "Hero & Heroine" Goes Gold

In a phonecall to John shortly before the Acoustic Strawbs came to town to do a concert in John's town of Metuchen, New Jersey, (see below) Dave Cousins of the Strawbs informed John that "Hero & Heroine" had attained Gold Record status according to A&M Records in Canada. Seems it went Gold some time in the 80s and the band just recently found out about it. Congratulations to John and all the Strawbs for this recognition, long overdue. -- Ron the webmaster

I just got home from the Strawbs show at NJ Proghouse. It was at the Old Franklin School in Metuchen, New Jersey. John Hawken (a Metuchen resident) was present and joined his friends onstage for the first encore and played piano with the band on "We'll Meet Again Sometime"

Here are some photos (post show). John's two sons are in one of the pics with the band. I'll send some performance shots soon.
